 Track Description
This track is designed for teachers in the intermediate grades to use as a resource in creative writing. 90% of my 5th grade students do not have the structural and creative skills necessary to produce various types of written language. In order to ensure that my students meet the standards a mixture of lessons on creative writing must be employed which will enhance the writing process. Through the use of this track, the student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences as the English/Language Arts cluster grades 3-5 states. The objectives to be met in this unit are: the student will develop a three-frame comic strip with characters, using creative writing; the student will read books from a theme related list, write book reviews and publish reviews on the WWW; the student will be able to logically order a story and write the beginning, middle, or end paying attention to meaning and structure; and the student will write a short letter with general guidelines to increase reading comprehension.
