Track Description
The stated learning gap is using the character counts pillars in student\'s interactions with peers and staff. The unit \"Respect\" was chosen because it offers a wealth of ideas on how to incorporate the theme of \"respect\' into the other subject areas. I chose this unit because it allowed my students to use what they learn in one subject in other subjects and to connect what they learn in school to real life, both needs identified in my pre-survey. The fifth grade Comprehensive Health 3-5 cluster Reading content standard states that the student will understand the importance of a positive self-concept, interpersonal relationships and the relationships of sound social, emotional and mental health practices to wellness.
To achieve this standard, the learner will: demonstrate awareness of individual and cultural differences, describe how feelings affect behavior, appreciate individuals for qualities, which make them unique, evaluate qualities that make good friends, demonstrate understanding of decision - making skills, and realize that people react differently in same situations.
