Track Description
I chose this unit "Building Vocabulary with the use of adjectives" to help the learning gap of my third and fourth grade ESL students who do not use adjectives to describe anything when they answer questions that I ask them. Being new to the English language they do not understand how to do this yet. The Goal 2 standard states: Students are to use English to achieve academically in all content areas. Students will use English to obtain, process, construct, and communicate subject matter information in spoken and written form. The Teacher Survey states: "The student will try more than one way to solve a problem. The student will think about their best skills and use them to complete a task. The student will find ways to use what they learn. The student will use Internet in my class to answer questions or practice skills online" The student will practice this while working on the last lesson of this track. They will have studied the concept of using adjectives before nouns in the three lessons. The last lesson will be a fun hands-on-the-computer game while will clearly indicate if they have master this skill of using an adjective correctly. This lesson will also help with the skill of using adjectivies when writing and talking.
