 Track Description
This online unit assists my fifth grade language arts student alleviate their learning gap which is a hesitance to include new words into their somewhat limited vocabularies. This is accomplished by having the students do various dictionary/vocabulary drills and exercises. Through the "built-in" repetition in the process, the children will become not only more familiar with the words, but will also become more comfortable with them. . This assists in meeting the state curriculum standard for the grades 3-5 cluster in reading. This framework standard states that the student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. This lesson also helps the students connect what they have learned with previously learned material.
