 Track Description
Fifth graders lack understanding and knowledge of the Civil War which would enable them to interpret historical information and put it in the context of past, present, and future as stated in the 3-5 Social Studies standard. This Track will provide 5th grade students an opportunity to research information about different events of the Civil War. Students will use primary and secondary sources to gain a better understanding of events leading up to the Civil War and its devastating effects on the people of the U.S. past and present. This Track contains a variety of activities which will allow students to address several Profiler Survey Goals including: students learning something as completely as they can, students willing to try tasks that seem hard to do, and students thinking of different ways to tell what they have learned.
