Track Description
The stated learning gap is demonstrated difficulities in developing necessary reading skills for interpreting and appreciating literary written text. The unit "Author Study" was chosen because it requires the students to recognize and appreciate the style of a particular author or illustrator to develop critical reading and thinking skills. The fourth grade Language Arts 3-5 cluster standard states the student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation and appreciation of the written text. Students will be introduced to the processes of writing, book making, and publishing.
