 Track Description
This Track is being created for a fifth grade math class. This unit addresses the stated learning gap by increasing student's knowledge of fractions and the properties associated with them, which can be used in everyday life. This unit addresses the stated curriculum standard by demonstrating how students will apply properties of whole numbers and operations of mixed numbers that are necessary to understand the concepts of addition and subtraction of fractions. The unit addresses the survey item number one. It states that the student "will try more than one way to solve a problem". In each of the links the questions deal with higher order thinking, which will develop skills of problem solving. Students will use various tools to enhance their knowledge of fractions and operations of fractions.
