Track Description
The stated learning gap is my special needs students have difficulty with understanding their bodies and the changes their bodies go through as they grow. This unit goes into great detail on how your skeleton works, how your muscles work, how the bones and muscles work together and the value of obtaining a variety of foods for a healthy body. This unit met the curriculum standard that states that students will understand attitudes and behaviors for preventing and controlling diseases, understand human growth and development and understand the relationship of sound nutrition to total lifetime wellness. This unit has a hands-on style of learning. The unit has specific learning expectations for the students 1) the student will demonstrate how joints work on a model and on themselves 2) the student will be able to judge the value of obtaining a variety of foods for a healthy body 3) the student will associate the value of the muscles for movement 4) the student will learn that bones and skeletal muscles make movement possible. The unit addresses the student survey question on thinking about their best skills and using them to complete a task.
