 Track Description
This unit was chosen to enhance childrens reading across the curriculum. Through reading selected non-fiction books the students will identify and demonstrate an understanding of the culltures and human patterns of places and regions of the world as stated in the 3-5 Tennessee Framework Standards. This unit will enhance the student's interest in reading and will help them to become independent readers, thus reading on grade level. The children will be asked to use context clues to identify new vocabulary words. They will be asked to read various books and poems on Native Americans and identify three similarities and differences between the Native Americans and their own culture. They will be able to identify animal tracks, compare and contrast various tribes, and create their own pictograph story on a clay pot. The students will participate in games and activities using selected websites.
