 Track Description
Students read through online poetry samples from the two websites provided on this Poetry and Listening Skills TrackStar. Each student will then prepare his/her poetry presentation which includes choosing a poet, memorizing one to three poems (depending upon the length) to recite to the class, and choosing another poem to "teach" to the class using the terms found on the "Figurative Language" website. Prior to the presentations, all students will visit the "Interactive Listening Comprehension Practice" website and complete two of the listening activities. Also, the teacher will model a poetry presentation, review the evaluation rubric with students, and teach-to how to be a good audience during the oral presentations. Finally, students will evaluate at least three other presentations.
