Xtimeline is a free, web-based timeline interface that allows you to easily create and share timelines incorporating text, photos, clip art, and videos.

2. Colonial Williamsburg: History for Kids

The Colonial Williamsburg Kids Zone includes interactive games and activities for elementary aged students. Resources are also available for teachers. Be sure to check out the "Tour the Town" link where you can virtually explore the actual town.

Best of History Websites is an award-winning portal that contains annotated links to over 1,200 history websites as well as links to hundreds of quality K-12 history lesson plans, teacher guides, activities, history games, quizzes, and more.

4. National Geographic Xpeditions: Activities

Xpeditions is home to the U.S. National Geographic Standards...and to thousands of ideas, tools, and interactive adventures that bring them to life. This link leads you directly to the Activities page, but be sure to explore the other pages on the site as well.

5. Geosense: An Online World Geography Game

Test your knowledge of world geography alone or against another online player. Players can choose different maps, and signing in allows you to track scores and chat with others.

6. Trail Tribes: Traditional and Contemporary Native Culture

An excellent historical and cultural resource on the tribal groups located along the trails followed by explorers Lewis and Clark.
