Track #448228: Rainforest Animals
Annotated by: Samantha McDaniel
1. Rainforest Animals
http://www.rainforestanimals.net/

This website is a great reference tool for finding information about animals in the rainforest. It includes the main topics and animals that are included in the Concept Map. This would be a great site for students to use for a project because students are able to determine the location, diet, habitat, size, and reproduction of each rainforest animal. This website is full of useful information and is easy to navigate through.

2. A Sampling of Tropical Rainforest Animals
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/rainforest/animals/Rfbiomeanimals.shtml

This website would be a great resource for in-depth class discussions because it shows the importance of rainforests in the ecology of the Earth. It shows where all the different rainforests are located in the world, as well as the different plants and animals that live in each rainforest. This website is great for students because it breaks down each rainforest into categories, showing the difference in animals that live in each one. It is very helpful because it goes in to great detail about each animal listed, providing pictures and descriptions of the anatomy and classification of each animal.

3. Rainforest : Rainforest Animals
http://www.mbgnet.net/sets/rforest/animals/index.htm

This website gives amazing descriptions about different animals of the rainforest. It provides a picture of each animal, along with the class, order, size, family, scientific name, range, diet, conservation status, and habitat. Under the description of the animals, it provides a small narrative of what the animal is like and a picture of where this rainforest animal is located at. All the links to each animal are conveniently located on the left side which makes it easy to view each animal. If students were assigned a specific rainforest animal to research, this would be a great resource for facts and pictures.

4. Fact Sheet: Tropical Rainforest Animals
http://ran.org/fact-sheet-tropical-rainforest-animals

This website is filled with common questions students may ask about the rainforest. It is a great fact sheet for students to refer to as they are discovering information about rainforest animals. There is a glossary at the bottom of the page to make sure students have every bit of information they need on this website. It is very straight to the point and a great source of information about the rainforest. This website would be great to spark more questions in students about the rainforest.

5. Animals
http://library.thinkquest.org/5393/animal_intro_rf.html

This is a great interactive website for students when exploring the different animals of the rainforest. The students can simply click on an animation that will take them to the topic that was clicked on. There is a description given under each topic, then links to more information under that topic. Example: If the student clicked on "Mammals," the site would take them to a page with a description of mammals and links to information about different types of mammals. I would love to put this website on the smartboard and have students interact with the website as a class.
