Track Description
Ms.Ryan's 4th/5th grade class will be involved in individual and group juggling. Each child will use scarves to cross the midline in juggling. The children will start with one scarf, then progress to 2 scarves, and finally will attempt 3 scarves. Advanced children will be allowed to use balls. The student will understand appropriate levels of physical fitness in cardiorespiratory endurance, body composition, flexibility, muscular strength, and muscular endurance. To achieve this standard, the learner will: identify and practice different types of exercises. I am focusing on crossing the midline exercises which will help students line up their math problems. The learning gap is identified as having children who cannot cross the midline in doing specific exercises. Juggling, using the cascading pattern, will help these students in crossing the midline. As stated in the Teacher Pre-Survey, students will have the opportunity to relate what they know in math to another curriculum area.
