After reviewing 1998-1999 Terra-Nova scores, it was evident that my fourth-grade students had a learning gap in earth science. The science standards for grades 3-5 in the TN Curriculum Framework Content is Interactions occur on scales ranging from elementary particles to galaxies. The student should be able recognize the composition of the earth and its relationship to the galaxy. Such skills as the earth's layers and composition, platonic movement, earthquakes, and volcanoes are addressed in this track.
