Track Description
After reviewing 1998-1999 TCAP Writing Assessment scores, it was evident that my fourth-grade students have a learning gap in writing. The content standard for the TN Curriculum Framework is that the student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. The learning objectives are (1) to write to acquire knowledge, clarify thinking, improve study skills, gain confidence, and promotelifelong communication, (2) write frequently for a variety of purposes such as narration, description, and personal, creative expression, (3) begin to identify and write for a variety of audiences, (4) use elements of the writing process as appropriate to the writing task, and (5) practice a variety of prewriting activities to generate and organize ideas.
