As stated in the learning gap my eighth grade students have difficulty with writing skills. In developing this unit of study I chose lessons that would help the students see the importance of writing in their everyday lives. It will also allow them to better meet the curriculum standard indicated: The student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences.
