 Track Description
In evaluating the Tennessee School Report Card, we fall well below the national average with 83.8%. On a pretest about the Revolutionary War in my classroom, less than 50% of the students knew who fought in this war or why their was a Revolutionary War. This track was designed for my 4th grade students as an educational tool overviewing the Revolutionary War and to help the students exhibit a knowledge of history identifying and describing major events, people, and trends of this war. A TN Curriculum Framework Content for History for grades 3-5 is: Standard 1: Students will exhibit a knowledge of history identifying and describing major events, people, and trends. Some learning expectations to achieve this standard are: The learner will: Recognize how the thirteen English colonies developed. Examine the conflicts between the British and the colonies that led to war and independence. Recognize how expansion of the new nation created conflict in North America. Examine the roles and contributions made by African-Americans and other minority groups in American history. In addition, this unit addresses these learning expectations from the profiler: 2. My students put themselves in their teammates' shoes during a discussion so they can understand their points better. 7. My students think of different ways to tell others what they have learned. 22. My students use Internet in my class to research topics. * 23. Teachers and/or students use Internet in to collaborate on projects with students in other classes.
