In evaluating Terra-Nova scores for 1999, I found the average score for the class was below 50%. The process skills portion of the science curriculum for grades K-2 states: 1. The human senses and technological instruments are used to gather information from the environment. 2. Data are collected using the senses, instrumentation, and a variety of other technologies. 3. Tables and graphs may be used to interpret the meaning and significance of data. The hbits of mind portion states: 1. Science is based uon suppositions derived from observationsof natural phenomena. 2. Predicitions are based on previous knowledge. Through the observation of the metamorphis of the frogs the students prediction and oberservation skills will be enhanced. They will get practice in intepreting and anlyzing when they interpret and analyze the observations.
