 Track Description
The stated learning gap is the need to expand vocabulary development. The unit Mr. Popper's Penguins was chosen because vocabulary can be developed through the development of the unit in conjuncion with the activities and games in related links. As the unit is developed the students will learn new vocatulary introduced in the text and will develop vocabulary introduced through the study of penguins with the help of the activities listed in related links. The 3rd grade language arts, 3-5 reading content standard atates: the student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation and appreciation of the written text. I chose this unit because it allowed me to use the Internet in my class to practice skills on line as described in the profiler teacher survey.
