 Track Description
The following Jackie Robinson sites are bookmarked to allow the teacher to model reading and note taking on the web. It is suggested that the book "Jackie Robinson, Baseball's First Black Major-Leaguer" by Carol Greene, ISBN 0-516-44211-2 be used first as another source to replicate information found on the web. This lesson meets 4th grade CA standards - Reading: 2.5 Compare and contrast information on the same topic after reading several on-line passages. Writing: 1.2 Create a multiple-paragraph composition. Writing: 1.7 Use online reference materials as an aid to writing. Students have made a flip notebook with 4 major sections for notetaking. They are titled "Family and Friends - Jackie's Early Years", "Jackie's Pro-Baseball Years", "Jackie as a Civil Rights Advocate", "Interview Questions - Things We Still Want To Know"
