 Track Description
This Track is for high school Language Arts instruction (9-12). This Track contains six sites and annotations requiring students to think critically about Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. There are also assignments allowing integration of technology as well as group and individual work. Bonus assignments are provided as well. Objectives: Given the text of Romeo and Juliet and another source of information (website), students will be able to analyze the personalities and actions of the characters. Given the text of Romeo and Juliet, students will be able to paraphrase sections and analyze the meaning of these sections. Given the text of Romeo and Juliet, students will be able to take the thematic elements of the story and re-create the story in a new context. Given the text of Romeo and Juliet, students will compare the two families and think creatively about the feud. Standards: Oklahoma PASS Skills - This track meets: Language Arts - (Grade 9) WRITING Standard 2: Modes and Forms of Writing 7. Write responses to literature that: a. demonstrate a comprehensive grasp of the significant ideas of literary works. b. support important ideas and viewpoints through accurate and detailed reference to the text or to other works. READING Standard 3: Literature 4. Literary Works - The student will read and respond to historically and culturally significant works of literature. a. Analyze and evaluate works of literature and the historical context in which they were written. b. Analyze and evaluate literature from various cultures to broaden cultural awareness.
