This track was developed as a teaching guide for the novel Sounder. This is an accelerated reader book and our school is promoting reading with this program. This track was developed to provide students with interesting activities that would increase their reading abilities and skill. These activities were complied to make this unit a comprehensive teaching tool to help students meet national, state and local Reading/Language Arts objectives while developing a life long love for reading. Our school improvement plan calls for an increase in reading skills, therefore, I feel this unit covers many objectives that my sixth graders are responsible to learn. This unit makes learning fun while increasing skill and knowledge in different subject areas.
