 Track Description
Track-A-Day
The purpose of this unit is to improve student understanding of science as it relates to the fine arts content area of music, via the use of technology, to teach appropriate technology methods and techniques, and to improve critical thinking and analysis skills via experiential learning techniques. Based on past TerraNova/TCAP performance assessments, students in the third and fourth grades have averaged scores in the 30th percentile. One of the specific areas of improvement and development is additional integration of and focus on science. I feel this unit will help to address this need, both in teaching specific concepts and in teaching science skills. Standards addressed: Standard 1:Students should be able to solve real-world problems through scientific inquiry methods (questioning, predicting, experimenting, collecting and displaying information, and drawing valid conclusions), using appropriate technology to communicate iideas and solutions effectively Standard 5: Students should be able to explore concepts and solve problems by connecting knowledge of the arts and other disciplines (art, social studies, and science, for example).
