“Cell and their Organelles” is a two-week study of Biological Science. The target group for this unit is 7th and 8th grade students. It follows the Tennessee State Standard in Biology, which states that “students will investigate the structures and functions of cell membranes, organelles, and component biomolecules as related to cell process”. This unit will meet that standard by using web sites that encourage investigation of the cell and its function. At the end of this unit the student will be able to identfy a plant and an animal cell. They will also be able to identfy the major organelles and explain their function. This unit encourages the student to improve their research skills as well as their computer skills. It should also help students recognize what is important about a topic and be able to discuss why. It will also help students learn to ask questions that help themselves and others understand a topic better.
