The stated learning gap is incoming fourth grade students have not demonstrated mastery of the scientific method as a means of learning about things around them by observation. The TN Curriculum Framework Content for Science used in this unit are: PROCESS OF SCIENCE: (1) OBSERVING-Observing is a process used to develop an awareness of the surrounding environment. (2) QUESTIONING - The development of an inquisitive mind and the effective use of questioning techniques furthers the acquisition of information. TECHNOLOGY: The student will use a variety of technologies to improve classroom learning, increase productivity, and support creativity. Learning Expectations are: -The student will use questions to develop the study of scientific concepts are based upon previous knowledge and experiences. -The student will use experiments to make observation of models and their relationship the scientific method. -Working in cooperative groups, the students will access information on the computer to complete the experiment on friction. -The student will write in the information from this experiment for each step. This unit will provide the students with different strategies for improving their skills on understanding scientific method while at the same time allows my students access to information online as outlined in the teacher survey.
