Ninth grade students will read Romeo and Juliet. By the end of this unit, the students will be have knowledge of William Shakespeare and the
Renaissance period, the opportunity to expand their analytical skills by asking questions about the play, and finding the answers, the opportunity to express themselves, their ideas and their thoughts about the play and its themes, in the writing in their journals. This unit relates to 4 content in grade 9.
1. The student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text.
2. The student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences.
3. The student will use, read, and view media/technology and analyze content and concepts accurately.
4. The student will express ideas clearly and effectively in a variety of oral contexts and apply active listening skills in the analysis and evaluation of spoken ideas.
This unit will help students address the survey items that students will think about their best skills and use them to complete a task, students
are willing to try tasks that seem hard to do, and students are willing to learn something as completely as they can.
