This track was created for a sixth grade class reading the book The Giver by Lois Lowry. This track will encourage them to broaden their computer skills and search strategies on the Internet by completing the following activities: 1) gather information about the life of the people from four different countries and create a spreadsheet and graphs with the information; 2) determine possible careers by taking an online career survey; 3) gather information about a career and create a PowerPoint presentation; and 4) complete an online puzzle about an event from American history and answer questions about the puzzle. The track meets the Tennessee Curriculum Framework Computer Technology Literacy and Usage: The student will use a variety of technologies to improve classroom learning, increase productivity, and support creativity.
