 Track Description
This track gives information with accompanying pictures, diagrams, activities, and online practice regarding teeth and dental hygiene. The students will learn about the various kinds of teeth, the difference between permanent and baby teeth, the placement of teeth in the jaw, the role of the dentist and what jobs he performs, various problems with teeth, and the proper way to take care of teeth. The students will also create stories about lost teeth and write an e-mail letter to the tooth fairy. This track relates to the framework standard which is K-12 Science in Society Tennessee Curriculum Standard "Science concepts may be applied to personal decisions." It also relates to K-12 Language Arts Tennessee Curriculum Standard which states, "The student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences." This track also applies to several Profiler survey questions such as #4, #8, #9, #10, #11, #17, #18. The most important Profiler survey question that this track relates to is that "My students use the Internet in my classroom for e-mail." This is something that they have only done once in the past, and I would like to incorporate it into my curriculum.
