 Track Description
The stated Learning gap is division 0-9 facts. The unit "Learning Division" was chosen because it combines memorization of division facts with application of problems. The 4th grade Math / 3-5 cluster In order to develop understanding of Estimation, Measurement, and Computation, the mathematics curriculum should include problems which require students to apply appropriate tools and units of measurement, to develop effective estimation and computation strategies for producing reasonable results, and to calculate using appropriate tools such as mental mathematics, technology, manipulatives, and pencil-and-paper. I chose this unit because it allowed me to use the Internet in my class to answer questions or practice skills on line and to help my children try something that is difficult to do as described in the Profiler teacher Usage Survey. Learning Expectations:
articulate the relationships among the four arithmetic operations:
select a notation and justify its appropriateness for a particular situation;
demonstrate an understanding of order relationships for fractions, decimals, and whole numbers using physical, verbal, and symbolic representations;
recognize and apply the properties of whole numbers and their operations;
demonstrate understanding of equivalent forms of rational numbers.
