 Track Description
Track-A-Day
This unit will enable third grade students to build skills in letter writing. Students will become familiar with the parts of a letter. Students will practice their letter writing skills by writing a letter to one of their favorite book characters, address an envelope and create a stamp. The Tennessee Curriculum Framework in Language Arts, Third Grade Sentence and Paragraph Structure states: The student will identify and apply elements of sentence structure, recognize parts, and write a friendly letter. The student will be expected to include the parts of a friendly letter. Students will discuss how letter writing can be a useful tool for communication in their world. Students will compare their letters with their peers and extend their letter writing skills to other subject areas.
