 Track Description
The curriculum framework states that students will recognize the use of propaganda techniques when used in a reading passage or advertisement. This Unit was chosen because it will mitigate a learning gap in the 8th grade Language Arts class. Students will be made aware that advertisers often exaggerate or stretch the truth to increase their product's appeal to consumers. They need to know that this is a deliberate attempt to foster ideas that may not be true. They must discriminate what an advertisement implies and what is actually true. The student will do a Power Point presentation or produce and present a video of an advertisement using propaganda techniques.
