Track Description
Kindergarten students have great difficulty identifying numerals in isolation. The K-2 Math Cluster Number Sense and Number Theory content standard states that through the investigation of meaningful problems, individually or in cooperative groups while using appropriate technology, all students in grades K-2 will be able to:
(1)count sets of objects individually or by grouping;
(2) relate the use of number in the learners' environment to the study of number;
(3) represent whole numbers and fractions concretely, pictorially, and symbolically;
Using these lessons, students will participate in many activities that will accomplish these objectives and create a sense of belonging to the numerals, and give them an added desire to successfully identify numerals. This helps students to apply something learned in school to the use of numerals in their everyday life.
