These links provide access to literature units based on the book, Stone Fox. The units provide a variety of activities to engage my fifth grade students in reading, research, writing, and art. Students are given the opportunity to research several different topics and do projects connected to the research while reading the book, Stone Fox. A TN Curriculum Frameworks Content for Reading in grades 3-5 states: “The student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text.” Learning expectations for this unit include the following: *Students will demonstrate basic comprehension of details in the novel. *Students will develop reading skills necessary for interpretation of written text. *Students will think about and use their best skills to complete a task. *Students will develop reading skills necessary for analysis of text.
